This temple is said to have been built in the late Heian period (1143).
It is said that the grandson of Ippen Shounin (The founder of `Jisyu) was dedicated to the reconstruction of a temple that was devastated during his travels.
This temple is one of the Ashikga Shichifukujin (Seven Gods of good fortune)
